Eden Volunteers Assist on Housing Renovation, Double B Project Achievements Gain Recognition

Eden Foundation stated that Yunlin County's senior population continues to rise, surpassing 130,000 persons and accounting for over 20% of the total population. By the end of 2023, the county entered a “super-aged society.” According to statistics from the Yunlin County Public Health Bureau at the end of 2024, there are 2,435 seniors living alone. The Yunlin County Government prioritizes the residential safety of the seniors, promoting the “Senior Living Alone - Double B Service Project(Better food & Better housing),” with Eden assisting in the implementation of renovation work.

Double B Project Achievements Highly Recognized.

On 14th of January, a renovation inspection event titled “Mobile Love Delivery, Happiness Painted” was held in Kouhu Township. Ms. Li-Shan Chang Magistrate of Yunlin County, along with Mr. Ben Lin and Mr. Hong-Chi Hong, two Vice CEO of Eden, led nine newly trained renovation volunteers to Kouhu Township to inspect the completed home repairs. Beyond aligning with the county government's overall planning, Eden went the extra mile. Together, they repainted the homes' faded walls, washing away the gloom of past years and painting a new atmosphere of “safety, comfort, and peace of mind.”

In support of talent development and addressing winter cold-weather needs for vulnerable households, Yunlin County Government partnered with Eden last year to launch the “Repairing with Love, Volunteers Building Dreams – Specialized Renovation Volunteer” training program. The curriculum covered: 1. Basic electrical principles, 2. Multimeter usage, 3. Wiring techniques, 4. Outlet and switch circuits, 5. Faucet installation, 6. Plumbing connections, and other fundamental home repair skills to enhance volunteers' problem-solving capabilities. Upon completion, volunteers immediately began assisting vulnerable families with basic repairs, completing 10 renovation households last year.

Eden has long been deeply committed to housing safety issues. Since launching the “Screwdriver volunteer Service” in 2018, it has trained 4,351 professional volunteers (equipped with basic skills in painting, plastering, plumbing, carpentry, and other foundational skills). Over the years, they have reached remote villages and disadvantaged communities to assist with repairs. Addressing specific needs, they improve damaged flooring, update bathroom fixtures, and install handrails. Their mission is to create a “home filled with love, living without barriers” for the seniors, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable families.

Eden Foundation state that through government collaboration and volunteer assistance, living conditions for disadvantaged groups can be significantly improved. This effort aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically advancing “Good Health and Well-being” and “Partnerships for the Goals.” Moving forward, Eden Foundation will continue integrating social resources to provide warm support and services to more vulnerable families.

Eden will persist in improving living environments for disadvantaged groups.
