For 43 years, Eden Foundation have served across Taiwan—advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, delivering direct and professional social services to children, individuals with disabilities, and seniors. We extend our deepest gratitude to all who have partnered with Eden in various ways, enabling our services to reach deep into communities and support families in need. On 7th of June, Eden held its “Love, Barrier-free and Friendly Day” at Keelung Intercity Transit Station, calling on all to embrace love through kindness.

Eden Keelung Office's third “Love Barrier-free and Friendly Day,” themed “Knock on Love, Transform Aging,” invited citizens to build an inclusive society together.
Over its 26 years of service in Keelung, Eden have provided early intervention for children, services for persons with disabilities, care for seniors, and caregiver support. To raise awareness about Eden's work, we hosted the “Love Barrier-free and Friendly Day” for the third consecutive year. This year introduced the long-popular Rummikub Championship, inviting seniors and individuals with disabilities to form teams. After three preliminary rounds, the top three teams by points advanced to the finals. Though called a championship, it was truly about mutual encouragement, putting the concept of inclusive friendship into practice.

Furthermore, the vibrant market stalls showcase the city's spirit of compassion. Moreover, two experiential booths—“Mirror New Clean Power” and “New Life with Hands and Feet”—demonstrated effective home cleaning methods. Through simple, engaging activities, they helped participants understand the daily challenges faced by seniors and persons with disabilities when physical limitations arise. Multiple service consultation booths were also available on-site, providing immediate assistance to citizens in need.

The dazzling array of booths and stalls at the market delighted both adults and children alike.

Through the “New Life with Hands and Feet” experience, children could also feel what life is like with physical chllenges.
Mr. Ben Lin, Vice CEO of Eden Foundation, stated that as Taiwan enters a super-aged society, Eden continues to deepen its senior services in Keelung. Initiatives include caring for seniors living alone and establishing a day care center for the seniors, aiming to bring love to seniors and enable them to enjoy fulfilling lives while aging in place. This year's theme, “Knock on Love, Transform Aging,” highlights the significance of doors as a vital symbol. A door wide enough for wheelchair access represents societal friendliness toward wheelchair users and the seniors, while also signifying society's welcome for everyone's participation. We extend our gratitude once again to the Keelung City Government for its strong support, which energized today's event, and thank all sectors for their backing and recognition. We look forward to joining hands in the future to create a friendly and inclusive society, building a city of love.
