In order to enhance children's rich life experience, the ChiSan Early Intervention Service Center that commissioned by Child Welfare Service Center of Social Affairs Bureau which under Kaohsiung City Government, hold the “Passing Greeting by Postal Mail” community integration activity at the Center on the 20th of Jan., inviting 24 slow-flying angels to send cards at the post office to learn the life experience of purchasing stamps, gluing them on, and dropping into the post box.

Slow-Flying Angels made their own greeting cards of New Year season and learned how to express their gratitude and blessings to their families. After coloring Day pictures of New Year on the cards, the educare givers assisted the children in pasting their blessings on the cards, putting the cards into envelopes, gluing the addresses label on the cards, and walking to the nearby post office to buy stamps from the postal staff to glue on the cards, so that the children could learn how to put the cards into the post box and send them home.

The 5-year-old slow-flying angel "Thinking" (a pseudonym) was diagnosed with Down's syndrome at birth and suffered from congenital heart disease, and underwent a major surgery not long after his birth. His parents were always worried about him and hoped that the child would grow up safely. With the assist of an early intervention care social worker, "Thinking" started with a home-based therapeutic education program. At the age of 2, "Thinking" came to the center to attend a daycare program, learning to organize his own belongings and quit diapering; now "Thinking" can go to the bathroom on his own, participate in class activities with his classmates, and look forward to going to school every single day.

With the assist of the educare giver, "Think" completed a greeting card of New Year season to send to his favorite mom. After a short walk to the post office, with the assist of Eden's educare givers and postal staff, the slow-flying angels experienced the process of sending the greeting card and was excited and happy to drop the them into the post box.

Happy New Year to Mom and Dad on the card.
