Yilan Education and Nursing Institute held its Eden Annual Banquet on the 9th, Jan. In addition to exciting stage performances and lucky draws, the Eden officials and staff members were invited to enjoy a meal with residents of the Institute, and to enjoy the unique and lively atmosphere of the end of the year. At the beginning of the event, the Taiko Drum Club, formed by 13 residents, gave a magnificent opening performance, which not only heated up the atmosphere to the highest point, but also won the applause of the audience, and brought good luck to everyone in the new year.
Yilan Education and Nursing Institute 's Eden Annual Banquet was kicked off by a magnificent Taiko drum performance.
One of the performers, Ah-Yi, who focused on drumming with a confident face, is 41 years old and suffers from moderate intellectual developmental disability combined with psycho-social disabilities. He has employed in general workplace and small-scale sheltered community workshop, but had to stay at home due to maladjustment. His parents, who had to work all day, were unable to provide companionship and care, so he was admitted to Yilan Education and Nursing Institute in 2015 to receive services. Because of his positive and cheerful personality, he loves to be praised, and not only does he try his best to fulfill all the tasks assigned by the service staff, but he is also willing to participate in various performance activities. After ten years of “cultivating”, Ah-Yi is now not only a bocce ball player, but also a senior member of the taiko drum club. He loves to help others, and this year, he has added the status of volunteer, and his enthusiasm for helping others has been highly recognized, and the Director of the institute, Mr. Cheng-Ying Lin, presented him with the Eden Volunteer New Recruit Award today.

Eden said that in order to enrich the life experience of the residents who have been living in the institute for many years, the institute arranges a variety of activities, clubs and classes according to the residents' preferences and interests, including bocce ball, taiko drum, jazz drum, choir and other clubs, so that they can enjoy participating in the learning process, and arranges performances for various occasions to enhance their self-confidence and sense of achievement. In order to perform on stage, the residents will seriously participate in the practice to show their best side. The moment they step onto the stage, they are no longer people who need to be taken care of, but performers who are recognized for their talents and receive warm applause. Once a year, we hold the annual banquet to not only feed the residents, but also to thank the staff for their dedication to giving the residents a second warm home.
Volunteers accompanied the residents of institute to enjoy the delicious food during Eden Annual Banquet, so that the residents could have a good meal and warmth heart-felt.
The first “Eden Annual Banquet” event was held in 2014 to allow our service users who live in the institutes and are unable to return home, as well as persons with disabilities and older persons who live alone or have limited mobility ability, to enjoy a warm meal in the company of warm people, and to feel the joy of the New Year's Eve reunion. This year, Eden will continue this love and expects to organize 37 “Eden Annual Banquet” events before the Chinese Lunar New Year, helping nearly 4,016 service users to have a reunion meal with their family members, delivering Lunar New Year's Eve dishes to 263 homes of persons with disabilities and older persons, as well as delivering 1,917 winter warming gifts. We sincerely invite the publics to join us in this endeavor. For donations and support, please visit Eden's official website or call 0800-025-885.
