Wonderful Christmas memory's still been created in Eden and those old memories are still shining brightly until now...

Dated back to 1987, it was the first time when Eden spread the good news on Christmas eve by a team consisted of mostly people with disabilities.  This special team, taking the role as the Santa Claus, some drove the modified wheelchair instead of the sleigh and some hold the assistive walker to give out the candy canes.  The team visited the live-alone elders、volunteers and stores in the neighborhood, singing "Joy to the world, the Lord's come..." and blessed them.  It was a delightful moment when children all stormed out for candies and the windows on the street were opened by people out of curiosity to see this activity.

Led by Pastor Wu, the team and the choir sang a bunch of hymns, gave out the small Christmas gifts and was surrounded by so many children, like Jesus first came to Jerusalem and welcomed.  It was like a painting in the streets in Taipei as remembered by Pastor Wu and was also an unforgettable Christmas memory.  Pastor Wu further mentioned that to help those in need, especially people with disabilities, to enjoy, even indulge is one of Eden's traditions.  Back to 1982, which was the year that Eden was founded, he just drove to pick up 30 more visually-impaired persons from institute for the Blind in Xinzhuang District, Taipei to enjoy a delicate cuisine in a famous holiday Inn.

For most people from the institute at the time, it was a luxury. They rarely have the opportunity to be treated in the hotel. They even lack the experience to wield the knife and fork. However, volunteers were there to help and guide them, but still, a wonderful Christmas memory was created for them.

Christmas Eve is a special day, not only for people like us but also for all of those involved in Eden's services, no matter the receivers or the facilitators.  We all wish you the best of the coming 2020 and God bless all and lead us the way ahead. 

Eternal light to God in the highest glory!

In recent years, on the eve of Christmas, many church fellowships and volunteer groups will come to Eden for care and accompany people in different needs, people with various disabilities, or slow-flying angels who have been in the care institution for a very long time. Let the warmth of Christmas season continue to heat up in each other's blessings.
