The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is an international human rights treaty adopted by the United Nations on 13th December 2006. It is the first Human Rights treaty that gains wide popularity among UN members and is ratified by 147 states, as well as a regional integration organization, the European Union. It first opened to signatures on Mar. 30 2007 then on May 3 2008, it came into force officially after obtaining the 20th states signatures.

On 29th April to 1st May, 2013, Ms. Chia Yin Pan, staff representative of Eden Social Welfare Foundation at the annual InterAction Forum, headed for Washington D.C. to attend a three-day event presided over by the American Voluntary International Action. With nearly 1,000 attendees representing hundreds of organizations from all over the world, this year’s InterAction Forum features a wide variety of workshops and tracks on issues critical to the development of common solutions to the challenges faced by the world’s marginalized and impoverished communities.
