Myanmar is a beautiful country rich in history, culture and natural recourses, but living with a disability there can be a challenge due to the lack of understanding. When Ms. Thein wanted to send her daughter to a special needs centre to receive therapy, instead of receiving support from the community, she encountered a wave of incredulity: Why would she do that, why not just let the child be?

On 29th April to 1st May, 2013, Ms. Chia Yin Pan, staff representative of Eden Social Welfare Foundation at the annual InterAction Forum, headed for Washington D.C. to attend a three-day event presided over by the American Voluntary International Action. With nearly 1,000 attendees representing hundreds of organizations from all over the world, this year’s InterAction Forum features a wide variety of workshops and tracks on issues critical to the development of common solutions to the challenges faced by the world’s marginalized and impoverished communities.

In 25th March, 2013, Hong Kong PHAB (physically handicapped and able-bodied) Association calls on Eden Social Welfare Foundation for a tour of Eden’s accessible housing project in New Taipei City. Staff representatives of the hosting and visiting organization have both benefitted a lot from the face to face exchange of firsthand experience in accessible housing.

Walk-A-Thon 2012 with Taipei Adventist American School

The 7th annual walk-a-thon for Taipei Adventist American School (TAAS) was held on November 18, 2012. Students have met this year at Taipei City Fulin Elementary School in a joint effort to raise money for disabled and economically disadvantaged persons of Eden Social Welfare Foundation’s Love without Borders Wheelchair Donation Project in Vietnam and Nepal, where the proceeds will go, which will donate 300 wheelchairs to people with disabilities in the two developing countries.
