Eden go to the community, child development screening identifies slow-flying angels

In order to identify slow-flying angels at an early stage, Eden Foundation organized the "Child Development Screening & Resurrection and Passing on the Love – Happiness Together" event in front of the Linyuan Presbyterian Church today. Nearly one hundred parents and children participated in the event, and 36 children were screened, with five suspected children found to be in developmental delays, which will be tracked by professionals and linked to the necessary resources for early intervention service.

Children Welfare Service Center, Social Affairs Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government entrusted the Eden Foundation operatethe Linyuan Children Development Community Service Center (hereinafter referred to as Linyuan Early Intervention Center). In April, during the "Children's Screening Month", to connected with Eden Foundation's Kaohsiung Disability Service Center, Nine Fruit Small-Scale Sheltered Community Workshop, Linyuan Parents-Children Center, Linyuan Presbyterian Church, Linyuan Bread of Life Christian (Spring of Life) Church, Linyuan Rehoboth Church, and Jhongyun Presbyterian Christian Presbyterian Church organized the "Happiness Together" community event.

The Director of the Linyuan Early Intervention Center, Ms. Shu-Tsui Cheng said that since 2004, in response to the demand for services in the Linyuan District, the development of on-site and home-based early intervention services to reduce the daily commute of nearly four hours for parents and children, and in 2009, the Linyuan Early Intervention Center was formally established to provide convenient community-based early intervention services.

Slow-flying angel Ah-Bao (a pseudonym) has few family members with disabilities and Linyuan Early Intervention Center identified him through child development screening and provided him with a social support network services timely. After Ah Bao reached the age of 6, he was referred to Eden Foundation’s Kaohsiung Disability Service Center which provides holistic services for persons with disabilities and creates opportunities for them to find employment.

 

According to Eden Foundation, the Linyuan area provides early early intervention service, case management for persons with disabilities, and double- aging family services for persons with disabilities and senior citizens, so that persons with disabilities can receive holistic services.
