How Art Therapy Helps People with ADHD, LD and Autism

Art therapy gives persons with autism, ADHD(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), and learning difficulties a chance to express themselves. People who find it difficult to express themselves verbally can communicate through art. Art therapy in schools provides a liberating (and joyful) way to express oneself without boundaries or concerns about being evaluated because there is no such thing as failure when doing art. This procedure gives them a sense of accomplishment and self-assurance.

 Because they frequently exhibit symptoms of executive function impairment, problem-solving is an important skill they can cultivate in order to engage in creative activities.

Making art stimulates the brain and raises dopamine levels. Because increasing dopamine levels improves concentration, this is critical for people with ADHD. Additionally, increasing serotonin and decreasing stress levels through the arts.

Art has long been an important part of academic curricula. Art allows people to express themselves and connect without boundaries.

It gives children who struggle with language a voice and a wonderful outlet for expressing their emotions. Art can boost one's self-esteem, self-awareness, and self-expression. It involves their mind, body, and soul, allowing them to discover their own feelings.

The addition of art has benefited many different sectors of education. Dr. Merryl Goldberg, for example, has developed recommendations for using art-making to assist visual learners who struggle with reading.

The idea that artistic expression can promote emotional health and healing is at the heart of art therapy. It allows people to share their personal stories. Creativity has been shown to help people discover their sense of self.

The majority of dyslexic, ADHD, and learning disabled children are visual learners with the ability to express themselves artistically.

It increases a person's capacity for self-healing and assists them in finding peace. The artist has the ability to portray their inner feelings creatively and possibly even beautifully. Picasso famously stated, "Colors, like characteristics, follow the fluctuations of emotions."

It’s critical to help the persons with disabilities and art could help.
