Have you ever thought about what is your daily necessity besides food and water? For people with visual impairment, assistive aids such as cane is definitely the must-have for mobility and ability to do activities of daily living.

In southern Vietnam, Vinh Long Province, alone, there are over 800 visually impaired people. Without doubts, their daily lives can be a lot more difficult because the Covid-19 has taken a heavy toll on the local healthcare facilities and systems. They certainly cannot receive necessary medical support as used to and might have less assistance from the professional medical caretakers.

Since 2005, Eden Social Welfare Foundation has long history serving people in need in Vietnam. We have helped social minorities groups including people with physical and mental disabilities, low-income family, and the elderly. Eden understands their daily-life struggles so we provide necessary livelihood support to make their lives better, such as employment and job training, mobility aids like wheelchairs and canes, and daily meals for the low-income elderly.

In 2021, Eden together with the Vietnam Friendship Association of Vinh Long Province, decided to donate 200 assistive canes for those with visual impairment while in the low income bracket. Hence, an assistive cane donation ceremony was held on December 21th in Vietnam to openly and officially initiate this donation to those people with disability. The whole event was taken place on-site with proper regulation of social-distancing.

Even during this difficult time affected by the Covid-19, Eden has never given up on every opportunity to serve and care for those in need. Upholding the spirit of bring gospel and social welfare for those in need, Eden hopes through long-term development to help them integrate to the social communities and live independently. Because whenever there is a need, there is an answer from Eden.
