A digital learning paradise for the disabled - Digital Sheltered Workplace

According to the data from Ministry of Health and Welfare, there are more than 80 percent of persons with disabilities who eager to enter to the workplace. However, they can’t show their capability due to various factors and restriction of the physical and employment environment. The latest CRPD (Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities) report released by the National Human Rights Commission indicates that the labor participation rate is only 25 percent of men with disabilities participate in the labor force in Taiwan and less than 15 percent of women. Their rights of labor participation need to pay more attention from all field.

Eden’s sheltered workshop helps the persons with disabilities, who have willingness to work but don’t have the ability in long term. It aims at living independent, arranging the learning evaluation functions and related guidance. It could improve their social adaption ability and build self-confidence. It also levels up their skill and ability in work by way of professional training.  

Besides cleaning, baking, and hand-making, AIdata tagging has been added since 2019. It brings up persons with disabilities multiple professional capability and get more job opportunities.

 

 

Yi-Hsuan,, a 25 years old girl who lives with an oxygen tank, has been longing to join her classmates and play together. However, because of Congenital heart defect(CHD), she was unable to join her favorite PE class, amusement parks and cinema. Yi-Hsuancouldn’t find a job successfully after graduation due to her heath and felt lost about her future.

Until she came to Eden 2 years ago, Yi-Hsuan got her first job in life. She became an AI data tagger after training. She engaged in lots of different projects to tag tens of thousands of pictures. By working, Yi-Hsuan regained her confidence and found the field she could develop herself.

The flexible working time and friendly environment in the sheltered workshop gave Yi-Hsuan the reasons and motivation to insist on. Now, Yi-Hsuan saves all her incomes happily and has a clear direction and sense of value in life.

 

Li Junlang, the director of Eden Digital Sheltered Workshop, mentions that Eden found that images train the concentration, observation and eye-hand coordination better than typing in the process of importing AI, and the work of marking is high repeatability, which is very suitable for the physically deficient, but high stability of the disabled. At present, Eden Digital Sheltered Workshop is the first AI tagging sheltered workshop which is indicative. It not only helps the persons with disabilities but also undertakes the business of "AI Data tagging" independently. It provides high quality service to enterprises and reduce the cost of manpower and management for enterprises.
