Eden started a new working career for disabilities in post-epidemic era.

During the pandemic, it is difficult to find a job for whom is disabled. However, Chih with 21 years old made it! Chih could find even a small flaw in the hundreds of used clothes which are piled like a small hill. Through the assistance of social workers from Eden Social Welfare Foundation and the great effort of Chih(his own effort), Chih successfully found a job as a clothing classifier in the second-hand recycling field during the pandemic. He has worked steadily for 3 months, even handed his monthly salary to his mother, wanted to share the loading of his mother.

Chih with moderate disability identification, lived with his mother and his sister, who had mild disability identification. Chih used to have an internship in vehicle maintenance plant. However, he was dismissed from the plant because of poor attitude toward learning and frequent absenteeism without any reason. He stayed at home ever since and got in tense relationship with his mother.

The family expenses only depends on house-cleaning and kitchen work from his mother to maintain the family. Chih’s mother worried about his future owning to the emotional problems. As for Chih, the bad experience of his first job held him back finding jobs.

Chih learned at nine fruit workshop in Eden first in October 2018. The caregiver managed a personal service plan, including social adaptation, working attitude, working abilities and so on. Chih did an excellent job on living discipline and class attendance rate. Since Chih highly willing to accept the activities given by him from the workshop, he learned diligently and humbly every day, thus improving his ability and job attitude.

A little stable after two years of learning, employment attendant form Eden helped him match jobs in April this year. Chih lived up to expectations that he matched a job successfully and became a clothing classifier in Chian-Yu recycling factory of used clothes from April 26th until now. The boss of Chian-Yu accomplished Chih‘s working attitude and his willing to accept all instructions. He said, “ He always works hard and proactively because he worries about not having income.”

Chih reclassified the used clothes he retrieved, sometimes checked whether the zipper working properly or not. There was no flaw which could be skipped from his inspection. When he first received the salary for his mother, she said, “ It’s not the money that matters, but he can finally live independently.” Mothers let their children manage their own pocket money and saved for them. Thanks for the teachers’ guidance and orientation training, which let Chih work stability and stride forward to have an independent life.
