Children Welfare Service Center, Social Affairs Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government entrusted Feng Shan Early Intervention Service Centerand Chi Shan Early Intervention Service Centerof Eden Foundation to organize the “Early Screening, Let’s come together”child development screening event on 13th, April at the WuChia Community Park and the plaza in front of the Meinung Library, respectively. On-site child development games were provided and experts were arranged to provide parenting counseling. Parents who brought the children to complete the activities were rewarded with fabulous prizes, attracting hundreds of people to participate in the event, making the atmosphere a lively scene.

In the great Chi Shan area, the Interdisciplinary Developmental Assessment Center was added to CiShan Hospital in 2023, and the notification rate of primary caregivers who took the initiative to contact the Interdisciplinary Developmental Assessment Center increased to 36%, which is an increase compared to the notification rate in previous years. The data shows that the community is gradually increasing their understanding of and attention to child development, and they are taking the initiative to contact the medical center for assessment to understand the current development of their children. A total of 117 children participated in today's two screening events. 16 children were suspected of having developmental delays and will be interviewed by social workers and provided with follow-up parenting resources.

Kuan-Kuan, aged 20 months, participated in a child development screening event organized by the Chi Shan Early Intervention Service Center last year. After observing that he was not yet able to let go of his hands to walk alone and could not pronounce words such as “dad” and “mom,” the center immediately began to provide services. Initially, the parents did not have enough support network and care pressure in the early treatment journey, but with the accompaniment of the social worker and the guidance of the therapist, the parents changed from hesitation and fear to active convergence, and were encouraged to seize the golden period of early treatment. After nearly one year of active treatment, the child's developmental stage is in line with the age and has stabilized in kindergarten.

The Parker Sports Academy's well-planned sports experience, where children can directly experience soccer, field hockey, archery, etc. with their challenge record cards, keeps children away from the 3Cs and to warm up the parent-child relationship. In addition, occupational therapists were invited to provide on-site parenting counseling, so that new parents can learn about their children's key development of growth together.

Mr. Ting-An Hsu, Director General, Office of Kaohsiung City, Eden Foundation said that this year, for the first time, the promotion of the Children's Rights Convention was combined with a mascot puppet show, where parents and children could take a photo with the mascot, and adults and children were asked to write and draw pictures of what they expected the park to look like.
