April as the month of child screening, unlocking the key codes of growth

In the morning on April 15th, Feng Shan Early Intervention Service Center of Eden Foundation held a large screening event at Feng Shan District Youth Park. 52 children participated in the screening and 7 were suspected of having developmental delays. During the event, Parker Sports Academy was invited to bring fun and diversified sports experiences to keep children away from the 3Cs and move their bodies to warm up the parent-child relationship; occupational therapists were also invited to conduct on-site parenting consultation to let new parents understand the key to their children's growth.

Through games, such as asking children to throw a ball with both hands, jumping on one or two feet, and balancing games, we help parents understand whether their children's growth is in line with the developmental progress of their age and whether they are lagging behind.

Last year, when Hsiao Hsiang (pseudonym) was three years old, his mother noticed that his vocabulary was low and his ability to understand adult instructions and sentences was weak, so she took the initiative to enroll in a child development screening program. Through on-site interaction and play, a slight delay was observed, and the parents were advised to go to the hospital for further developmental assessment. After the doctor's recommendation to arrange rehabilitation treatment, she also arranged for Hsiao Hsiang to attend the parent-child picture book story reading and physical activities at the Feng Shan Early Intervention Service Center regularly, and Hsiao Hsiang is now adjusting well in the pre-school.

The director of Eden Feng Shan Early Intervention Service Center, Mr. Cheng-Chieh Wang, said that our Early Intervention Service is family-oriented and arranges therapy programs for children. Through parent-child activities, parenting seminars and regular therapeutic meetings, Eden helps parents to build five practical skills in parenting, including "communication", "learning", "self-confidence", "decision-making" and "influence", so that parents can better understand their children's needs and can actively and confidently support their children in overcoming obstacles to growth and reducing caregiving stress.
