Eden Taoyuan Sheltered Workshop held a press conference to promote the Mother's Day cake on 11th, Apr. Sheltered staff Hsiao Yang 's mother, Slow-flying angel Chun Chun, and Mr. Hsien-Hsiang Li, Director, Department of Labor, Taoyuan City Government were invited to attend the press conference.

Hsiaio-Yang is 28 years old, came to Eden Sheltered workshop for 10 years because of his moderate intellectual disability. After graduating from high school, he worked as a salesman and a gas station operator, but he was unable to work steadily in the general workplace due to his inability to meet the speed requirements. Encouraged by his family, Hsiaio-Yang came to Eden Sheltered Workshop and started to learn product packaging and gradually became interested in baking. After being evaluated by the job coach, Hsiaio-Yang started to learn bread and biscuit making three years ago to enhance his professional skills. Initially, he was frustrated by his poor hand coordination, which caused the fillings to escape when he shaped bread. With the help of the job coach and the professional skills of the technical counselor, he was able to knead, weigh and shape bread. Having gained a sense of accomplishment and confidence in baking, Hsiaio-Yang hopes to get a baking license this year and give it to his mother as a Mother's Day gift. He also hopes that he will be able to return to the general workplace and find a stable job, so that he can help his family with household cost and put his mother's mind at ease!

Eden's sheltered employee, Hsiaio-Yang, thanked Eden's training and his mother's guidance, and hoped to get a baking license as a Mother's Day gift for his mother.

On Mother's Day this year, Hsiaio-Yang, in the role of a cake baker, led Chun Chun, a 1-year-old slow-flying angel, to carefully spread the buttercream and roll up the cake, and guided Chun Chun step by step to complete the cake and present it to the mothers. The active demonstration and instructive tone and posture surprised the attendants at the event. Looking at the confident figure of Hsiaio-Yang, Hsiaio-Yang 's mother said, "Thanks to Eden's training over the years, Hsiaio-Yang has gained more self-confidence and a sense of achievement, if we see Hsiaio-Yang grow, it's the best Mother's Day gift. Chun Chun's mom also participated in the event and shared her gratitude to Eden for arranging the event so that Chun Chun could have more diversified experiences and gain more stimulations, and she was also able to taste Chun Chun's handmade cake.

On Mother's Day this year, Eden's sheltered employee, Hsiaio-Yang, disguised as a cake maker, led the slow-flying angel, Chun Chun, and his parents to complete the cake step by step.

Mr. Jacky Chen, Director General, Sheltered Workplace Division, said that Eden has been committed to creating a vocational training environment for persons with disabilities, helping them to learn the professional skills needed in the workplace and develop interpersonal skills, so that the trainees with disabilities can smoothly transition to the workplace in the future, and also providing them with appropriate employment support through individual, professional and diversified services, giving them the chance to choose a different direction in their lives. He also mentioned that the quality and taste of Eden Shelter Workshop's products are not inferior to those of the general industry, and he hoped that the products produced by persons with disabilities would be supported and recognized by the public, so that persons with disabilities would have more opportunities and room for development.
