Arts Auction X Volunteer X Taipei Timeraiser

The first Taipei Timeraiser was held on August 20th and had a successful ending. This event was held differently than any other art auction. The purpose of the event was to recruit volunteers and promote the artworks from young artists. Instead of spending money to trade the artworks, people used the voluntary hours to bid for the artwork.

On Saturday (August 20th) there were 13 artworks being auctioned and bided for a total of 645 volunteer hours. Eden fortunately recruited 6 volunteers as our international volunteers. Also, one of the volunteers said that he hoped to have art classes for the persons with disabilities. Thus, he devoted almost 50 hours for Eden, especially for service-users.

A six-year-old girl, who is the youngest bidder, won the auction for her favor artwork. The highest bid of the auction “costed” 120 hours. The voluntary hours had to be fulfilled by the end of this year or the trade will be canceled. During the event, Eden had set up our spot and had contact with several potential volunteers (local and international students are included).

The event brings positive influence on the artists and volunteers. Eden is pleased to involve in and hopefully has further cooperation with Taipei Timeraiser on the promoting of artists with disabilities.
