Officially Announcement for Step with Love, Leap with Art-Online Gallery Launch

Eden Social Welfare Foundation hosted the Leap with Art, Step with Love – International Seminar on Disability Art on Friday morning, December 10th . The organizations from Thailand, Macau, and Taiwan shared how art accompanies persons with disabilities in the promotion of equality and equity. During this Seminar, Eden also celebrated the launch of the online art gallery for artists with disabilities.

The opening ceremony

In the seminar, Mr. Joseph Kwan, Deputy Vice President for Asia and Pacific from Rehabilitation International, and Mr. Yao-sheng Tseng, Creative Director from Delta Design Corporation, gave us a speech at the opening ceremony. They mentioned that art makes people closer and makes society more inclusive and respected mutually. “Everyone is equal before art.” Furthermore, Mr. Mitch Tsao, Vice CEO from Eden Social Welfare Foundation, addressed that each of the artwork represented their life course from each artist. Every artwork is a masterpiece.

Besides, we are pleased to invite Dr. Dai-Rong Wu to share her thoughts about art education and social practice. Taipei National University of Arts has been devoted to diverse education. She indicated that art is a cross-disciplinary and cross-barrier language. We can understand people’s differences through language. Art education is not about making everyone the same, but about making everyone respect their differences. We do change society with the sensuous power of the arts.

This Seminar was originated in 2017, previously known as the Pacific Accessible Art Festival. These events were aiming to offer a big stage for persons with disabilities to spread their creativity. This year, Eden changes the way to present arts online and hopes to be seen in every corner of the world, which could possibly make the general public know more about the artists with disabilities better. In addition, it’s a platform for persons with disabilities to exchange and develop at home and abroad.

The Seminar is mainly a physical activity. We also invite the artists with disabilities from Tamsui Workshop to teach our distinguished guests to experience handcrafts arts. There are a variety of artworks on the “Steps with Love, Leaps with Art Online Gallery.” These artworks are from WanFang Center for Disabled People, Caritas Macau, Association for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (AEPD), and The Association of Thai of Persons with Disabilities.

Please never hesitate to visit the website. Art is a way of communication. Eden sincerely hopes that each of you wanders in the art world.
