Half-Note Dance Workshop

Half-Note Dance Workshop was co-established by Eden Social Welfare Foundation and the Society of National Association of the Deaf in 2011. They recruit members with hearing disabilities. The members are diverse in age, in degrees of hearing impairment, in their backgrounds and ways of communication, some using sign languages and others using it with lip reading. The one thing they have in common is that can’t hear the full sound of a note, hence the name Half-Note.

Regardless, the interaction between the dancers, the translator and the teacher nurtured a love and understanding between them that made communication much easier. The students said that at first they joined the dance class for fun, and after about two years, they developed a real interest in dance and were willing to give back to society. They could also gain more experiences with stage performance, to demonstrate their confidence and to create more possibilities for themselves.
